A Place For the Lord

Psalm 89, Psalm 96, Psalm 100-101, Psalm 105, Psalm 132

As my dear friend Cindy pointed out Psalm 132 is a total Jesus sighting!  From radiant crowns to priest’s clothed in salvation it’s not much of a stretch to see how some of God’s plans for us laid out in this Psalm is fulfilled in Jesus… but what “hooked” me about the Psalm was verses 4 and 5.  We’d read about David’s attempt to bring the ark to its final resting place, did we read yet about David’s desire to build the ark a temple made of more than cloth and God saying No?  I can’t remember if we did or not yet.  Anyhow we know that for us as Christians God’s dwelling place is in our hearts… we are the temple so when I read:

I will allow no sleep to my eyes
   or slumber to my eyelids,
5 till I find a place for the LORD,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.

I thought to myself, wow, what a great idea!  Is God in our hearts where he should be as we drift off to sleep?  Have we given over all things to him as He has asked and thought about our circumstances in the light of His glory before we turn out our bedroom light?  A call to prayer, reflection, and a test to see if all is well between us and the Lord. Before you let sleep take you ask yourself, have I found a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the mighty one of Jacob?

Copy and a Shadow

Day 43 Exodus 39-40

I just read Hebrews 8 and 9 after reading todays verses and WOW, things are really clicking for me. According to Beth Moore and Anchor Bible dictionary More verses of the Pentateuch are devoted to the Tabernacle than any other object. . . the details are important because it exists in Heaven and what was made on earth was a copy and a shadow of this heavenly reality.

God’s Crib, The Wandering Years…

Day 38 Exodus 25-27

I thought I’d gather a few visuals… I had a tough time figuring out what all this would look like in my head.

Lord, if your dwelling place is now in my heart.. help me to understand what all these details me to me now, today.
